A recall of Governor Gavin Newsom, puts California at the real risk of having a Republican governor who can win without having a majority of support from voters, and will set our progressive agenda back by years.
Aside from Gov. Newsom’s mistakes — he has also long been committed to issues that matter to Californians, including Medicare for All, LGBTQIA+ rights, criminal justice reform, and renter protections, and we cannot let right-wing forces take advantage of the recall to try to rebuild their power in the state and control the narrative about California at the national level.
Republicans, building on the extreme world views and leaders of QAnon, anti-vaxxers, and white supremacist groups, have mounted a recall campaign against Governor Gavin Newsom that threatens the immediate and ensuing ability for Californians to move forward key progressive policies. We MUST say no to the recall and keep us on the pathway to progress in California.
The recall election is set for Tuesday, September 14, 2021.
