Today 40 million Americans hold more than $1.2 Trillion in student debt and it’s suffocating our economy. It wasn’t so long ago that California prioritized providing an accessible, debt-free higher education that ignited our economy, providing good jobs and an educated workforce. We can change this by joining all other major oil producing states — like Texas and Alaska — and passing an oil extraction tax to fund higher education.
