Nearly 160 million voters turned out for the 2020 election, and special interests spent $14 billion to influence us. That’s more than twice what was spent in 2016.
Instead of having special interests trying to buy our votes, we need to have elections that are clean, open, and fair.
That’s why we need to pass H.R. 1 — the For the People Act.
The For the People Act will clean up our political system, expand and protect voting rights, get big money out of politics, hold elected officials accountable for corruption, and create a democracy that values the voices of all Americans. The House passed the original bill along party lines in 2019, before the Republican-controlled Senate killed it.
The House passed the bill again two weeks ago, and we have a real chance of getting this bill passed into law — and an opportunity to make our democracy work in a way that is truly by the people, for the people. We could pass sweeping election reform to remove money from politics and ensure clean and fair elections for all, with the passing of the For the People Act (H.R. 1).
Call your Senators to let them know that you want to see real democracy where all of our voices are heard and all of our votes are counted.
