Courage California works with local and statewide partners to identify priority races, screens candidates based on their top issues, approach to passing progressive policies, and record of governance and leadership.
Caroline Menjivar: SD20, San Fernando Valley
Caroline Menjivar is a long-time community advocate with decades of experience of fighting for more programs and policies for the people of San Fernando Valley. She immerses herself in her communities, recognizes what needs to get done for everyone to thrive, and works tirelessly to connect people to the support they need – and that is the grounded leadership we need in Sacramento.
Bulmaro Vicente: AD68, Orange County
Bulmaro Vicente brings an organizer’s heart and strategy to working with diverse stakeholders and delivering on community priorities. He has a deep passion for improving the lives of people who have been most impacted by the pandemic, police violence, pollution, and other failures of the status quo. Vicente is the change that Orange County needs to make progress on what matters most to all Californians.
Jennifer Esteen and Liz Ortega: AD20, Alameda County
Jennifer Esteen and Liz Ortega have been on the frontlines supporting our communities for many years, and Courage California is endorsing them both as leaders we need in Sacramento.
Jennifer Esteen is driven by her vision of a state legislature and policies that better reflect all Californians, especially communities that have been most impacted and ignored. She has a long record of advocating for more programs and support and is dedicated to making the connections needed to pass ambitious bills.
Liz Ortega understands what working families need to achieve the American Dream and has the determination and focus to make it happen for communities in the East Bay and statewide. She has actively worked and built relationships to get bills passed in the state legislature, and is willing to fight for big changes that also bring people along on a shared progressive vision.
District Attorney Diana Becton: DA re-election, Contra Costa
District Attorney Diana Becton is an effective leader who works directly with her communities to enact much needed changes for justice and progress. She brings more voices to the table and employs a forward-looking approach to data to implement solutions that will end cycles of incarceration and harm. DA Becton cares deeply about the residents of Contra Costa County, and her re-election will keep us on a safer pathway of collaboration, compassion, and accountability.
Courage California is dedicated to supporting and electing candidates who will actively champion our issues and communities, especially in the face of corporations and special interests and the inertia of a political system that doesn’t always serve our people well.
Caroline Menjivar, Bulmaro Vicente, Jen Esteen, Liz Ortega, and District Attorney Diana Becton are leaders who will serve all Californians, effectively and equitably.
