Courage California breaks organizational precedent with its first Presidential Endorsement
Los Angeles — In an organizational first, Courage California breaks precedent by announcing the endorsement of Vice President Kamala Harris for U.S. President in the November 5, 2024, General Election in California.
“Courage California is pleased to announce our endorsement of Kamala Harris for President of the United States of America,” said Angela Chavez, communications and public affairs director at Courage California. “This is the first time our organization has endorsed in a presidential election and we’re excited to do so – because NOW is the time for historic and unprecedented courageous change.
“In California, we have seen Vice President Harris’s commitment to progressive values firsthand. She has been a strong ally to the LGBTQ+ community, as seen through her efforts to ensure access to marriage equality at the city, state, and national levels. As District Attorney, Harris implemented a youth offender re-entry division and the Back on Track program that successfully prioritized the rehabilitation and reintegration of youth and low-level offenders, and she established the first environmental justice unit. As Senator, she introduced the Climate Equity Act, and Attorney General, Harris fought for California homeowners during the foreclosure crisis, which resulted in a $20 billion settlement for California families.
“The 2024 presidential election will be incredibly consequential for the future of our freedoms, rights, and protections, which is why Courage decided to endorse Kamala Harris. Her record speaks volumes about her qualifications, ability, and willingness to lead with courage.
“We must unite and turn out the vote for Vice President Harris on November 5th and elect the candidate best positioned to protect democracy and take on our nation’s challenges and divisiveness,” said Chavez.
