The addition of Jovanka Beckles, Kipp Mueller, and Robert Garcia completes Courage California’s slate of progressive endorsed state candidates
Los Angeles — Courage California has announced the endorsement of three (3) state legislative candidates, five months ahead of the November 5, 2024, General Election in California.
- State Senate District 7: Jovanka Beckles
- State Senate District 23: Kipp Mueller
- State Assembly District 50: Robert Garcia
“Courage California is proud to endorse Jovanka Beckles, Kipp Mueller, and Robert Garcia as the community champions Californians need in the state legislature,” said Irene Kao, Executive Director of Courage California. “Wealthy corporations and other special interests are spending millions to influence legislators, turn back our progress, and keep our state from meeting our important housing, climate justice, and community safety goals. We must turn out and vote on November 5th for these leaders, who are willing to stand up to big money and pass the policies we need for a more just and equitable California.”
Jovanka Beckles
Jovanka Beckles is a true community leader with a track record of building and working with grassroots coalitions to pass leading-edge policies in her time on the AC Transit board and Richmond’s City Council, Economic Development Commission, and Planning Commission. Her passion for public service is deeply connected to her experiences as a public health provider and a queer, Black, and Latinx woman. It makes her uniquely suited to co-govern with the residents of the diverse and progressive SD7 district.
Kipp Mueller
Kipp Mueller has a clear vision to bring needed resources to strengthen SD23 economies, tackle homelessness and housing affordability, and ensure quality education for every child alongside residents and leading unions and organizations. As a civil rights attorney, he fights for all forms of equity and is ready to deliver for his communities.
Robert Garcia
Robert Garcia is a longtime educator who has led successful efforts to transform district schools into supportive and high-achieving environments for all children and families. He has also been involved in the community as part of several clubs and organizations, and his policy priorities and desire to serve are grounded in his dedication to the SD29 district through these many roles.
Courage California is dedicated to supporting and electing candidates who will actively champion California’s most underserved communities and issues. The entire slate of endorsed candidates includes women, people of color, immigrants, and LGBTQ+ people, and most identify across these key communities.
Jovanka Beckles, Kipp Mueller, and Robert Garcia are leaders who will serve all Californians, effectively and equitably. They join Marisol Rubio, Michelle Chambers, Sade Elhawary, Clarissa Cervantes, Rhodesia Ransom, Sasha Renée Pérez, Eloise Gomez Reyes, Christy Holstege, Assm. Liz Ortega, and Assm. Tina McKinnor as Courage California’s general election-endorsed state candidates.
Courage California works with local and statewide partners to identify priority races, screen candidates based on their top issues, approach to passing progressive policies, and record of governance and leadership.
