As Obama Touts the Affordable Care Act in CA, CourageCampaign.org Demands Gov. Brown Stop Undermining the Law’s Implementation
Statement by Rick Jacobs, founder and executive director of CourageCampaign.org, on President Obama’s visit to California and Governor Jerry Brown’s attempts to undermine the implementation of the Affordable Care Act in the State:
“During his visit, we hope President Obama will take a moment to ask Gov. Brown to stop undermining his signature achievement, the Affordable Care Act. For Obamacare to prove successful, it must succeed here in California. But right now, during budget negotiations in Sacramento, Gov. Brown is trying to cut corners by limiting coverage for the neediest Californians and putting each county’s safety-net — which funds public hospitals, clinics, and low-income health programs to care for the uninsured — on the chopping block. This will only ensure California fails to provide truly universal healthcare coverage by opening new holes for the poorest Californians, along with one million undocumented immigrants.”
CourageCampaign.org is urging their members to contact Gov. Brown and urge him to drop his proposed cuts to county safety-net services and provide truly universal healthcare coverage, as envisioned by the the Affordable Care Act.
