Originally designed to carry 100,000 riders a week, BART now carries over 400,000 riders a day. The tremendous surge in ridership has placed a significant strain on the four decade old train system. And with the region expecting the population to grow by 2.4 million people by 2040, the Bay Area simply cannot wait any longer to update its aging BART transportation infrastructure to meet the surging demand.
Measure RR is a critical $3.5 billion bond measure that would modernize BART to keep it safe and reliable and bring it forward to the 21st century.
