Coalition to Hold Congressional Representatives in CA-41 and CA-13 Accountable
California, September 28, 2023 – Courage California, Inland Empire United, Communities for a New California Action Fund and Lower Costs California are joining forces to launch Valley Families Unite, a coalition fighting to create a strong economy that works for all valley residents while holding members of Congress accountable for choosing the wealthy over California working families.
The coalition will help uplift the voices of constituents in CA-41 and CA-13 who have been impacted by their representatives’ policy records, particularly votes that would increase working Californians’ day-to-day costs or fail to lower them—from health care costs, to utilities, gas, child care and housing. Our mission is to ensure that congressional leaders in our state truly represent working people in their districts, and we intend to hold Rep. Ken Calvert and Rep. John Duarte accountable when they fail to do so.
Our organizations have collectively engaged residents of these districts year-round through various initiatives, from Census and COVID outreach to learning from and engaging with the community. This coalition represents the next step in all of our dedication to working families, and our work towards lower costs on everyday expenses from groceries and housing to health care and gas; higher wages for our working families, after decades of stagnant wages; and making corporations and the wealthy pay their fair share.

In collaboration with the coalition, Lower Costs California (LCC) launched a $3.6 million advertising campaign on Tuesday to educate Representative Ken Calvert’s (CA-41) constituents about his impact on their economic well-being. Additionally, Valley Families Unite is planning a series of in-district events to actively engage constituents.
