Courage California Announces 2020 General Election Endorsements

Statewide accountability and fair representation organization endorses six down-ballot candidates, champions for Californians

CALIFORNIA Today, Courage California announced its 2020 General Election slate of endorsed candidates who champion our shared values and will fight for the critical reforms and policies we are demanding for our communities.

Courage California Endorses:

  • George Gascón for Los Angeles District Attorney

  • Holly Mitchell for Los Angeles Board of Supervisors, District 2

  • Abigail Medina for State Senate, District 23 in the Inland Empire

  • Alex Lee for State Assembly, District 25 in Silicon Valley

  • Reggie Jones-Sawyer for State Assembly, District 59 in Los Angeles

  • Fatima Iqbal-Zubair for State Assembly, District 64 in Los Angeles

Based on their records as elected officials and community leaders, Courage California is confident the endorsed candidates will co-govern in the interests of all Californians.

“We need to elect courageous leaders who will listen to their communities, lead on issues of equity and justice, and actively fight the influence of corporate and other special interests that block needed policies and reforms,” said Irene Kao, Executive Director of Courage California. “This year, under COVID and in the midst of historic uprisings — all of which disproportionately impact Black, Indigenous, and people of color — our elected officials did not go far enough to protect our communities and lay the groundwork for the systems level changes that we need for the long-term. Our six endorsed general election candidates will get us back on track towards a California that represents and benefits all of our residents.

“Courage California urges Californians to vote for George Gascón, Holly Mitchell, Abigail Medina, Alex Lee, Reggie Jones-Sawyer, and Fatima Iqbal-Zubair — candidates who will work to push our districts and state further towards equity, justice, and accountability,” said Kao.

Voters can learn more about each of these candidates in Courage California’s 2020 General Election Courage California Voter Guide. The Courage California Voter Guide and endorsement slates comes ahead of the 2020 General Election on November 3rd.
