CALIFORNIA’S LARGEST PROGRESSIVE ORGANIZATION ENDORSES STATE LEADERS FOR 2022 ELECTION
Los Angeles — Courage California has announced the endorsement of four equity-focused State Legislative candidates.
- David Campos, AD17, San Francisco County (Special Election)
- Pilar Schiavo, AD40 (formerly AD38), Santa Clarita
- Dave Jones, SD8 (formerly SD6), Sacramento County
- Aisha Wahab, SD10, Santa Clara/Alameda
“With much at stake in 2022, Courage California is proud to endorse progressive champions who will work closely with their communities to pass the bold policies we all need to ensure our safety, health, and security,” said Irene Kao, Executive Director of Courage California. “For too long, important environmental, economic justice, housing, and similar bills have been blocked by legislators who listen to special interests more than they do their own constituents. Californians need legislative leaders who embody our collective values of equity, justice, and accountability – and are willing to fight hard for the policies we are demanding now. Courage California’s endorsements of David Campos, Pilar Schiavo, Dave Jones, and Aisha Wahab underscore our confidence in them as the leaders all Californains deserve.”
Irene Kao, Executive Director of Courage California
Courage California works with local and statewide partners to identify priority races, screens candidates based on their top issues, approach to passing progressive policies, and record of governance and leadership.
David Campos, AD17, San Francisco County (Special Election)
David Campos is a longtime public servant who will bring trusted community partnerships, proven governance experience, and strong values to be an effective and progressive legislator. Campos has already delivered on key policies and programs in the Bay Area and will bring invaluable insights to the legislature as an openly gay and a formerly undocumented Latinx man.
Pilar Schiavo, AD40, Santa Clarita
Pilar Schiavo brings decades of experience organizing communities around a solution to effectively address and fix urgent problems. Schiavo understands local and statewide issues, has the aptitude to see the bigger systems at play, and has the experience and skills to successfully navigate relationships and policies to make long-term changes.
Dave Jones, SD8, Sacramento County
Dave Jones has long served California’s diverse communities, fighting for the people in numerous roles and across the issues we all care about. Jones brings a precise vision for how to pass and implement important legislation based on his strong relationships and governing and advocacy experience.
Aisha Wahab, SD10, Santa Clara/Alameda
Aisha Wahab will build on her established track record as a champion for working families in the Bay Area to lead California in keeping its promises to the people. Wahab has a clear understanding of what our diverse communities need to be strong and thrive, and she knows how to keep people at the table to find bold and effective solutions.
Courage California is dedicated to supporting and electing candidates who will actively champion our issues and communities, especially in the face of corporations and special interests and the inertia of a political system that doesn’t always serve our people well.
David Campos, Pilar Schiavo, Dave Jones, and Aisha Wahab are leaders who will serve all Californians, effectively and equitably.
