Courage Campaign Applauds Governor Jerry Brown for Signing SB822 into Law

Moments ago, California Gov. Jerry Brown signed a measure into law that will have reinstate open-internet rules in the state, presenting a direct challenge to the Trump administration’s net-neutrality rollback.

Eddie Kurtz, Executive Director of Courage Campaign, issued the following in response:

“We applaud the leadership of Sen. Scott Wiener, Sen. Kevin de Leon, Asm. Rob Bonta, and Asm. Miguel Santiago, who have done California and the country a great service by helping pass the most powerful net neutrality legislation in the country. Their courageous stand against some of the largest, wealthiest, and most powerful companies in the country–AT&T, Comcast and Verizon–is inspirational, not to mention critical to our democracy.

“Governor Jerry Brown did the right thing today by choosing to institute the strongest net neutrality rules in the country, sending a clear signal to Californians that guaranteeing access to the internet for all, helping California communities–particularly low-income communities–and boosting small businesses is a priority for our state.
