Courage Campaign Calls on Feinstein, Harris to Shut Down Senate Until Trump is Investigated
Statement from Eddie Kurtz, executive director of the California-based Courage Campaign on President Trump firing FBI Director James Comey and the need for the US Senate to launch an independent investigation into Trump’s Russia ties:
“President Trump’s decision to fire FBI Director Comey in the midst of an investigation into the Trump campaign’s ties to Russia is an outrageous assault on our country’s constitutional system of checks and balances.
“It is now up to the US Senate to launch an independent investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 Presidential election, and the ties between Russian officials and members of the Trump campaign. California’s Senators – Dianne Feinstein and Kamala Harris – must do everything in their power to make sure that an investigation moves forward in a timely manner – refusing to allow the consideration of any legislation or nominees awaiting confirmation until the Senate votes to appoint a special prosecutor to investigate. The fate of our Republic is at stake.”
