Statement by Rick Jacobs, founder and chair of Courage Campaign, on Governor Jerry Brown’s State of the State:
“For the first time in 20 years, a Governor has delivered a state of the state address without the heavy burden of a crushing deficit and the need for additional massive spending cuts for vital programs.
We congratulate the governor on this first tune in two decades balancing act. It would have been impossible without the strong progressive movement that made Proposition 30 possible.
The time is now to build ” the California dream”, and not just to focus on balancing a budget that enshrines college education put of teach for too many, healthcare and jobs for too few, and leaving those without critical services for those that most need them.
We call on our governor and the new two thirds Democratic majority to look to and build the future.”
