Group Says Royce’s Retirement is Proof that Democrats Are Building a Wave to
Take Back the House, Starting in California
Statement from Eddie Kurtz, executive director of the California-based Courage Campaign, on Rep. Ed Royce’s announcement that he will retire at the end of his term:
“Rep. Royce knows that if he ran for re-election in 2018, he would lose. Royce’s announcement today that he will retire at the end of his term is proof positive that Democrats are gaining momentum and ready to retake the House in 2018 with a wave election. California — with seven districts where Hillary Clinton beat Donald Trump — will start the wave, and it will roll from the Pacific to the Atlantic.
“Royce saw the writing on the wall: voters in California’s 39th Congressional district and across the state are disgusted with California’s Republicans continuing support for President Trump and his immoral agenda.
“Let this be a clear message to all remaining members of California’s Republican Congressional delegation: your days are numbers, and come November, you will be out of a job.”
