Courage Campaign Releases 2016 One-of-a-Kind Progressive Voter Guide for State Ballot Measures
CALIFORNIA — The California-based Courage Campaign has released its 2016 Progressive Voter Guide detailing recommendations for how progressives in the State should vote on each of the 17 statewide ballot measures on the November 8th ballot. Courage Campaign’s 2016 Progressive Voter Guide is a one-of-a-kind, comprehensive guide that compiles a list of the endorsements of California’s most trusted progressive groups and organizations.
With corporate money leading the way, almost half a billion dollars has been spent on the 17 propositions, making the CA Progressive Voter Guide a critical tool for Californians to separate fact from fiction. For example, big Pharma has spent up to $109 million in opposition of Prop 61, and the tobacco industry has ponied up $66 million in opposition to Prop 56, which would implement a tax on tobacco to fund healthcare research. In addition, four corporations outside of the state have spent about $6 million in opposition of Prop 67, which would ban single-use plastic bags.

Courage Campaign will be promoting the 2016 Progressive Voter Guide with paid ads on Facebook targeting progressive leaning Californians, reaching more than 2.7 million California voters with its recommendations.
In the 2016 Progressive Voter Guide, Courage Campaign offers specific recommendations including:
- Voting Yes on a tax on the wealthy to fund education and healthcare (Prop 55)
- Voting Yes on a tax on tobacco to fund healthcare research (Prop 56)
- Voting Yes on a reform to California’s parole and juvenile trial system (Prop 57)
- Voting Yes on overturning Citizens United (Prop 59)
- Voting Yes on reduced pharmaceutical drug prices for Californians (Prop 61)
- Voting Yes to end the death penalty (Prop 62)
- Voting No on an “environmental” fund fee that would be used to overturn California’s ban on plastic bags (Prop 65)
- Voting No to speed up the death penalty (Prop 66)
- Voting Yes on a referendum to ban single-use grocery bags (Prop 67)
“California’s 17 ballot propositions are a historic opportunity to create progressive change. Half of Bernie Sanders’ platform is on the ballot. Corporate interests don’t care about those things.
