LA County Board of Supervisors to Consider Taking Position on Controversial Ballot Initiatives Prop 30 and Prop 32
SEIU, LWV, Courage Campaign, California Partnership, CHIRLA, Community Coalition and Innercity Struggle Rally for LA Board To Support YES on 30, NO on 32.
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA – On Tuesday, Oct. 9, the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors will be acting to consider taking positions on two controversial, high stakes ballot measures, a step rarely taken by the five-member Board. More than 500 community members, led by prominent business and educational leaders, will fill the Boardroom to call on the Board to support Yes on 30 to protect education, public safety, and essential services and No on 32 to protect to voice of working people.

Rally to occur on the steps in front of the Board Room entrance on Temple.

- Hundreds of community members rally on steps of Kenneth Hahn Hall of Admin with signs, chanting urging the Board of Supervisor to take positions on Yes on Prop 30 and No on Prop 32.
- Prominent community leaders testifying at Board of Supervisors meeting while “gagged” to symbolize silenced voices and calling on the need to protect essential services and education.
The League of Woman Voters, Courage Campaign, California Partnership, CHIRLA, Community Coalition, Innercity Struggle, community leaders and labor organizations will lead the Rally for Resolutions to call on the LA County Board of Supervisors to support YES on Prop 30 and NO on Prop 32.
Community groups support Prop 30, the Schools & Safety Protection Act, because it is the only initiative that will protect school and safety funding and help address the state’s chronic budget mess. Governor Brown’s plan reduces the deficit while protecting essential services.
The League of Women Voters of California, California Common Cause, and working Californians joined together to launch the NO on Proposition 32 campaign. Proposition 32 claims to be “political reform,” but in reality was intentionally written to create special exemptions for billionaire businessmen and business special interests, giving them even more political power to write their own set of rules.
