MON. 10AM: Local Activists Dress in Santa Claus Suits to Rally Outside of Rep. Jeff Denham’s Modesto Office
Courage Campaign Members Call On Rep. Denham to Reject the GOP Tax Bill
Modesto, CA — This Monday, December 18th, Rep. Denham’s (R-10) local constituents and members of the California-based Courage Campaign and Indivisible will dress up in Santa suits and sing Christmas carols highlighting Jeff Denham’s “bad behavior” with a rally outside of his Modesto office. The activists will call on him to vote against the GOP tax legislation, which experts estimate will raise taxes by an average of almost $3,000 on each of his constituents, including on many low and middle income people.
WHAT: Courage Campaign Rally Outside of Rep. Jeff Denham’s Modesto Office
WHERE: 4701 Sisk Rd, Suite 202, Modesto, CA 95356
WHEN: Monday, December 18, 2017, 10:00 – 11:00 AM PT
A Quinnipac poll shows that less than one-third of Americans approve of the Republican tax plan. The measure would push to further limit the state and local tax deduction and mortgage interest deduction, which could have a severe impact on local Californian communities’ housing costs.
“It’s past time we call the impending tax ‘reform’ legislation what it really is: the GOP tax scam. This deeply immoral bill is designed to systematically punish Californians and the American people in order to enrich the bank accounts of corporations and the top one percent,” said Eddie Kurtz, Executive Director of Courage Campaign. “With the bill likely headed back for a vote next week, Courage Campaign is calling out Rep. Jeff Denham for supporting this unconscionable legislation at the expense of his own constituents. Talk about a sell-out.”
“Our message to Rep. Denham is clear: your constituents are depending on you. So be good, for goodness sake! Take a stand and vote against the impending GOP tax scam.”
