Current CA law bars our access to information related to serious use of force, like officer-involved shootings, or police misconduct, including instances of racial profiling, sexual misconduct, and planting evidence. In other words, officers who have unjustly killed, harassed, or incriminated Californians may still be policing our neighborhoods, and we are none the wiser.
Senate Bill 1286 would change that by cracking open police misconduct and use of force records to the public.
