TODAY 5 PM PT: Courage Campaign to Fly Plane Banner Over 49ers’ Monday Night Football Game in Support of Colin Kaepernick

Banner Will Fly Over Levi’s Stadium Before Monday Night Football, Reading, “@CourageCampaign: Kap Inspires Courage!”

CALIFORNIA — Today at 5:00 PM PT, the California-based Courage Campaign will fly a plane banner over Levi’s Stadium just before the Monday Night Football home opener football game between the 49ers and the Los Angeles Rams. The banner will read, “@CourageCampaign: Kap Inspires Courage!” in support of Niners quarterback Colin Kaepernick’s ongoing protest in which he takes a knee during the playing of the national anthem.

Since he began his protest during preseason games, Kaepernick’s protest has spread, inspiring athletes from the NFL to high schools across America. The protest has also won support from high profile figures including Steph Curry, Kareem Abdul Jabbar, military veteransand President Obama.

WHAT: Plane Banner to Fly Over 49ers Vs. Rams Football Game
WHERE: Levi’s Stadium, 4900 Marie P DeBartolo Way, Santa Clara, CA 95054
WHEN: Monday, September 12, 5-6 PM PT

Last week, over 43,000 people signed on with Courage Campaign to thank Kaepernick for standing up for black lives and against the oppression of people of color.

“Colin Kaepernick has shown true courage in standing up for black lives in the manner he’s chosen,” said Eddie Kurtz, Executive Director of Courage Campaign. “He’s been powerfully effective in spreading his message, and he’s inspired people from his teammates on the 49ers to high school students around the nation to support his message and join him in protest.”

“When stars like Kaepernick publicly take a stand for black lives, it magnifies the cultural force of a much larger movement. With Kaepernick drawing targeted, racist hate from those who have the audacity to question his patriotism, there is no better time to stand with Kaepernick and send messages of support to him and other teammates, players, and coaches who have stood by him,” added Kurtz.
