VALENCIA, CALIFORNIA — As the government shutdown enters its third week, angry constituents are demanding an immediate vote on a continuing resolution to fund the government so that 800,000 federal workers can go back to work, children with cancer can access treatment studies, and vital government services are available to millions of Americans.
MoveOn members will be protesting at more than 50 congressional offices nationwide. They will be carrying signs that read “Stop the GOP Madness” and “End the #GOPShutdown,” as they ask their representatives to vote to open the government and increase the debt limit to avoid a default.
In California’s 25th district, MoveOn and Courage Campaign members from Valencia and the surrounding areas will join Rouzanna Paladin and Peter Rothenberg in urging Rep. McKeon (R-CA) to support an immediate vote to reopen the government and increase the debt limit.
WHEN: Tuesday, October 15th, 5:00 PM.
WHERE: N/E corner of Valencia Blvd & McBean Parkway, 24243 Valencia Blvd.Valencia, CA 91355

“I have my own business, and I never had good health insurance before the Affordable Care Act,” explained Rouzanna Paladin, who helped to organize the event. “I can’t believe that Republicans like Rep. McKeon would sabotage the country, and people’s health, for the sake of their own gain.”
“Today, MoveOn members are taking to the streets to express their frustration over the GOP’s reckless government shutdown and their outrage over the fact that members of Congress who support the shutdown are still being paid and receiving perks, such as gym access, while 800,000 workers have been furloughed without pay,” said Anna Galland, executive director of MoveOn.org. “MoveOn members are committed to making sure Republicans in Congress pay a political price for their hypocritical and destructive behavior.”
“Californians in general — as well as voters living in the 25th district specifically — are overwhelmingly opposed to the GOP’s destructive government shutdown and potential default,” said Dr. Paul Song, Executive Chairman of Courage Campaign. “Rep. McKeon is doing the bidding of the Tea Party, not his constituents. It’s obscene and needs to stop.”
