Courage Campaign Joins Protest Outside CarMax in Roseville Demanding an End to the Sale of Unsafe, Recalled Cars to Consumers

ROSEVILLE, CALIFORNIA — On Tuesday, September 30th, Courage Campaign will join protesters, including a victim and her family, are picketing at CarMax in Roseville calling on CarMax to stop selling unsafe, recalled cars to consumers.  CarMax, the largest retailer of used cars in the US, advertises that each of its cars must pass a rigorous, “125+ -point inspection,” but fails to get safety recall repairs performed prior to selling recalled cars to consumers.

WHEN: 10:30am PT.  Tuesday, September 30th.
WHERE:  1450 Eureka Road, Roseville CA.

Protesters include a Sacramento area father who nearly lost his daughter, son-in-law, and granddaughter when their recalled Dodge Ram fell apart on the freeway and burst into flames — 11 days after they bought it from CarMax.  Photo of the truck in flames is posted on CARS’ website.   Advocates from the Consumers for Auto Reliability and Safety also documented a Dodge Ram for sale on the CarMax lot in Roseville that was advertised last week — despite a current safety recall notice from the NHTSA’s website.

More than 25,000 people have signed a petition from the California-based Courage Campaign asking the Federal Trade Commission to investigate CarMax for false advertising.
