TUESDAY: California Democrats Join Activists in Empty Chair Town Hall Actions Aimed at Holding CA GOP Reps Accountable for Health Care Vote
Rep. Linda Sanchez & Asm. Sharon Quirk-Silva, Rep. Ted Lieu Will Host the Town Halls in an Effort to Hold GOP Members of Congress Accountable for Deceptive Health Care Plan
ORANGE COUNTY, CALIFORNIA — Starting on Tuesday, August 1st, Rep. Linda Sanchez (CA-38), with Asm. Sharon Quirk-Silva (CA-65), and Rep. Ted Lieu (CA-33) will join Courage Campaign, Indivisible activists, and constituents in holding “empty chair town hall” actions in Orange County, where constituents will speak out about health care and urge Republican members of the House of Representatives to vote against the bill’s final passage. The town halls also aim to hold Californian GOP members of Congress accountable for the Republican-devised health care plan, which would take away coverage for thousands of Californians.

“California House Republicans are cowards. Together, they voted to rob 32 million Americans of their health insurance — including more than 5 million people in California — and now they are too afraid to face their constituents,” explained Eddie Kurtz, executive director of the California-based Courage Campaign. “This is a democracy. Californians have the right to be heard by their representatives. The constituents of these cowardly politicians will not sit back and allow California Republicans to destroy the American health care system while hiding in anonymity.”
