WED 11AM: Californians Rally at Nestlé Bottling Plants in Los Angeles and Sacramento Demanding an End to Water Bottling During Severe Drought

Concerned Californians from Orange County, Long Beach, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Oakland, and Sacramento Unite to Save California’s Dwindling Water Supply

CALIFORNIA — On Wednesday, May 20th, concerned Californians from across the state led by Courage Campaign will converge on two Nestlé bottling plants – one in Los Angeles and one in Sacramento – demanding Nestlé halt their bottling operations during the State’s epic drought. The actions comes after more than 500,000 people in California and around the country signed onto a series of urgent petitions – circulated by Courage Campaign, SumOfUs.org, CREDO, Corporate Accountability International, Food & Water Watch, Care2, and Daily Kos – to Nestlé executives, the California State Water Resources Control Board, and the U.S. Forest Service to immediately shut down Nestlé’s water bottling operations across the State.

In LOS ANGELES, local activists joined by concerned residents from Orange County and Long Beach will protest outside Nestlé’s bottling plant at 1560 East 20th Street on Wednesday, May 20th at 11:00am PT.  Residents are invited to reserve a free seat on the bus from Long Beach and Orange County to the Los Angeles Nestlé bottling plant. Earlier this month, The Desert Sun reported that Nestlé was bottling water in desert and drought-stricken areas of California, and selling it for profit, all while its permit for water pipelines and wells in the San Bernardino National Forest lists 1988 as the year of expiration.
