Courage Campaign to Honor Legendary Guitarist Tom Morello and Rev. Frank Schaefer at Spirit of Courage Awards
Morello to Perform Acoustic Set with Special Tributes from Miles Solay of Outernational, Anti-Flag, Wayne Kramer, and Boots Riley at Iconic House of Blues on Sunset Strip
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA — The Spirit of Courage Award is presented each fall to someone who exemplifies Courage in the fight for a more fair and just society. This year, the Spirit of Courage award will be presented to Tom Morello. In addition to being named one of the 100 greatest guitar players of all time by Rolling Stone and writing some of rock music’s most politically powerful songs,Tom is also a fierce and courageous activist who is well known for fighting for social justice and workers’ rights around the world.
The Spirit of Courage Award will also be given to Rev. Frank Schaefer for his tireless and courageous work defending marriage equality since he was catapulted into the spotlight last year when the Methodist church defrocked him for officiating his gay son’s same-sex wedding. Global LGBT human rights activist, Stuart Milk, will present the award to Rev. Schaefer.
Morello will play a short acoustic set. Miles Solay of Outernational, Anti-Flag, Wayne Kramer, and Boots Riley will also play special tributes.
